Istoria siderurgiei din Reșița începe oficial pe 3 iulie 1771, când au fost puse în funcțiune primele două furnale și forje ale uzinelor metalurgice. Aceasta face din Reșița cel mai vechi centru industrial de acest tip de pe teritoriul actual al României, devansând cu mult alte mari uzine europene.
